We live in Brandon florida and I work full-time as an R.N. We have grown to over 1400 families in the Tampa Bay area and serve Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco counties.  For the 2018-1010 term I plan to focus on strengthening our relationships with our local hospitals and physicians, increasing our exposure in the community, making valued partnerships with other special needs agencies and community leaders, and advocating for FDSWF and our Down Syndrome community. I love volunteering my time to F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and I can’t wait to meet you and your family. Thank you for supporting FDSWF and our Down syndrome community.

Brenda Wando, Treasurer

Brenda Wando is a stay at home mom that doesn’t stay home much. She and her boys moved to the Tampa area in the summer of 2013 from Southern California. As a footloose and fancy free mom and of two growing boys, she does her best to keep up with a creative high schooler and a rambunctious middle schooler. She is excited to be a part of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and looks forward to continuing to advocate for her youngest son and helping other DS families. As a military spouse in a previous life, she considers herself an expert household logistician, having lost count of the number of times they have moved from coast to coast and overseas. In her spare time Brenda likes to keep busy cutting paper and gluing it back together and may or may not have an unhealthy obsession with Legos, the color purple, running even when not being chased, and all things Wonder Woman. Brenda also spends a lot of time opening the refrigerator door looking for answers.
Brenda has worked as the Treasurer for her local PTA so she brings all of her past Treasurer experience with her.  Her duties will require her to work closely with our licensed accountant, Matt Cooper, preparing monthly expense/profit reports/Quick book reports. Brenda will also be in charge of FDSWF records for our members/volunteers.
